GOAL Achieved!

My professional goal to become a library media specialist has been achieved! Sooooooo . . . now what?!

I strongly believe knowledge and skills grown out of personal curiosity have the deepest roots and the greatest impacts on our own future learning. My own personal curiosity has me digging into the Google Drive files shared with me by my new principal and the current media specialist, as well as articles and blogs written by media specialists near and far. My list of questions keeps growing and my excitement keeps building.

I am engaging in the kind of authentic, student-centered learning I hope I am able to facilitate as a media specialist. In my goal statement, I said, "As classroom instruction becomes increasingly more student-centered with students working on differentiated learning goals and project-based demonstrations of knowledge, helping students access and incorporate multiple sources of information in order to be able to answer complex questions and apply their synthesized understandings to real-world problems and projects must be a priority of the media specialist."

This is the ultimate opportunity to answer complex questions and apply my synthesized knowledge to a real-world project - my very own media center! At this point, I don't know what I don't know so I am intensely optimistic. I'll keep you all posted as I fling my hopes into the sky and dream big!
